LADIES AUXILIARY

BY-LAWS

 

ARTICLE I – TITLE:

 

            This association shall be known as the “Ladies Auxiliary of Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company, No. 2, of Egg Harbor Township in Atlantic County.”

 

ARTICLE II – OBJECT:

 

A.    To encourage and assist the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company, No. 2.

B.     To create a friendly and social interest among the community and within our ranks.

 

ARTICLE III – OFFICERS:

 

A.    The officers shall consist of:

1)      President

2)      Vice President

3)      Secretary

4)      Treasurer

5)      Chaplain

6)      Sergeant-At-Arms

B.     The officers shall be nominated in October.

C.     The election shall be held in November.

1)      Election of officers shall be by ballot.  Ballot shall be by active and/or working members present at the electoral meeting.

D.    All officers or nominees must be an active member for one year and must have attended 2/3 of the meetings or functions.

E.     New officers will take over at the first meeting in January.

 

ARTICLE IV – DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS:

 

A.    The President

1)      It shall be the duty of the President to preside at all meetings of the Auxiliary.

2)      Call the meetings to order at the proper time.

3)      Decide all questions of order; enforce impartially the constitution and by-laws.

4)      Preserve peace and order and forbid any personal or political remarks.

5)      See that officers are in their proper stations and in case of absence fill same pro tem.

6)      The President shall sign all checks drawn on the Treasury and appoint all committees.

7)      In case of an emergency meeting, the President shall notify five members and these in turn shall notify others in their area.


 

B.     The Vice President

1)      The Vice President shall assist the President in her work and perform the duties of President in her absence.

2)      The Vice President shall also act as Chairlady of the Welfare Committee and serve on all other committees.

C.     The Recording Secretary

1)      The Recording Secretary shall keep all records of the Auxiliary.

2)      The Recording Secretary shall receive all correspondence and answer as directed.

D.    The Treasurer

1)      The Treasurer shall receive all money paid by the members and donations and will provide receipts.

2)      She shall pay by check or cash; all bills passed by the Auxiliary and signed by the President and herself.

E.     The Sergeant-At-Arms

1)      The Sergeant-At-Arms shall preserve the order of all meetings, and guard the door.

2)      She shall introduce all visitors and new members.

F.      The Chaplain

1)      The Chaplain shall open all Auxiliary meetings with prayer.

2)      The Chaplain shall open all Auxiliary functions and special meetings when asked with prayer.

 

ARTICLE V – ATTENDENCE OF MEMBERS:

 

A.    Active Members

1)      Must attend 2/3 of the meetings

a.       Any active member not able to be present for three consecutive meetings shall officially notify any officer or she shall have her membership declared invalid.

2)      Serve on selected committees during the year.

3)      ALL are voting members.

B.     Working Members

1)      Attend as many meetings as possible during the year.

2)      Support and/or participate in the majority of our fundraisers.

3)      May attend all social functions.

4)      Has voting privileges.

C.     Social Members

1)      No voting privileges

2)      Attend social functions

 

ARTICLE VI – MEMBERSHIP:

 

A.    Membership shall consist of residents of Egg Harbor Township District, with the exception of members moving to another district and wishing to continue to support the auxiliary.

B.     Social members may reside outside of the Egg Harbor Township District.

C.     Any lady over 17 years of age and willing to follow our by-laws can become a member by majority vote at the following meeting.

D.    Membership will be limited to 30 active members, but can be changed by a majority vote.  Social members are not included in this limit.

E.     The dues for yearly membership are $5.00.  Renewal of membership dues must be received by the March meeting or you will be considered in active member. 

 

ARTICLE VII – MEETINGS:

 

A.    As long as five voting members are willing to continue, the Auxiliary shall not be dissolved.

B.     Five members shall constitute a quorum.

C.     Auxiliary meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of the month, except for July and August, at 7:30 p.m., at the Fire House.

D.    The fourth Wednesday of the month shall be held for special committee meetings or work sessions, if called by the committee chairladies.

ARTICLE IX – COMMITTEES:

 

A.    The President shall appoint all committees.

1)      The President shall appoint one member as chairlady of the Ways and Means Committee for term of one year.  Who in turn shall select other members to act with her for the duration of any social affairs.  Thus giving all members ample opportunity to be active in the various social and beneficial affairs given for the benefit of the Ladies Auxiliary.

B.     The Vice President shall chair the Welfare Committee and be included in all other committees.

1)      In case of hospitalization of any members of the auxiliary or death of an immediate family member (husband, father, wife, mother, daughter or son) a moderately priced flower arrangement will be sent.

2)      In case of an illness at home a card will be sent.

C.  The by-laws may be altered or amended by a majority vote, providing that the proposition to be altered or amended has been placed before the auxiliary in writing and is read at the meeting and in turn is passed on.
